In 2011 KiDS awarded 53 grants totaling more than $491,000 to support the care of children throughout NYU Langone Medical Center.

In 2011 KiDS awarded over $200,000 to support quality of life, including funds to throw birthday parties for patients like Franklin.
Research into pediatric heart function, art supplies for children in the Pediatric ER, equipment for the Cystic Fibrosis Wellness Program, and developmental and therapeutic toys for families in need were just some of the initiatives and items funded this year.
The grants, based on requests from faculty and staff, are awarded in the following categories: Child Life, Family Services, and Outreach; Research, Training, and Education; Facilities, Technology, and Equipment. In many cases funding for these projects is very limited or unavailable from other sources.
In response to the $75,000 grant he and his team was awarded, Dr. Robert Giusti, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and an expert in the treatment of children with cystic fibrosis, wrote, “…I want to express my sincere thanks to all of the loyal supporters of KiDS of NYU for the generous grant that you have awarded [us]. We feel like we won the lottery and are excited about how we can utilize these funds to improve services for children with Cystic Fibrosis.”
